The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday, with 299 votes in favor and 199 against, a bill that grants a 24% increase for employees of the federal Judiciary. According to the text, which was authored by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), the increase is made in a staggered manner, with an 8% adjustment applied in 2026, 2027, and 2028. The text goes to the Senate.
The text’s rapporteur is deputy Rafael Prudente (MDB-DF), who gave a favorable opinion for the Supreme Court’s project. The project was endorsed by other higher courts.
In their justification, the project’s authors say that the budgetary impact will be absorbed with resources already foreseen from the Judiciary itself.

“It should be noted that the Judiciary of the Union has the budgetary capacity to implement the proposal in the years 2026, 2027 and 2028, considering the reality of all its bodies”.
Deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ) was one of those who spoke in favor of the project.
“This is not about raises for magistrates, which would be abusive and wrong. This same justice that we want to be applied to other public servants of the Republic”, he said.

The initiative was sent to the Chamber in September and was signed by the then president of the STF, Luís Roberto Barroso, and the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Carmen Lúcia, as well as representatives of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), the Superior Labor Court (TST), the Superior Military Court (STM) and the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories (TJDFT).
In turn, deputy Marcel Van Hattem (Novo-RS) spoke out against the approval of the project:
“There are a lot of people earning very well, earning the ceiling and above the ceiling and yet we are giving raises of 8% a year from now on. The Union budget is a mother to those who waste.”
