One week after the mega-operation in the Penha and Alemão complexes, in Rio de Janeiro, which resulted in 121 deaths, Edgar Alves de Andrade, known as “Doca”, remains at large. The suspect would have managed to escape with the help of approximately 70 criminals, demonstrating the strong coordination of the Red Command in the region.
Authorities increased the reward to R$100,000 for information leading to Andrade’s capture – a similar amount to that offered in the case of Fernandinho Beira-Mar when he fled to Colombia. After the reward was increased, 148 calls were recorded with information about his possible whereabouts.
