Local authorities: mistake of… 897 votes in Matosinhos. Chega surpasses (even) CDU in Lisbon

Luísa Salgueiro, president of Matosinhos City Council

Strange situation. In relation to the AD alone, there was a mistake of 813 votes. Chega even had two councilors in Lisbon.

The elections autarchic on the 12th of October, they gave victory to the PS in the race for the City Council of Matosinhos. Luísa Salgueiro is once again president of the northern municipality.

Looking at the results, we see that the PS got 37,266 votes, the AD Matosinhos coalition got 20,272 votes, Chega got 11,472, the CDU convinced 3,366 voters and the Bloco de Esquerda got 1,282 votes.

But all this is wrong, notify or

O general clearance notice shows that the PS finally had 37,310 votes (44 more than it had), the AD got 21,085 (813 more votes) Chega totals 11,495 (plus 23). The CDU now has 3,375 (nine more) and the Bloc has 1,290 votes (eight more).

All in all, it was a 897 vote mistakeall initially harming these parties or coalitions.

IL and Livre lost votes – it is not mentioned how many – and PAN lost one vote.

But what happened?

Still according to Porto Canal, there was problems e recounts at three polling stations. There was inconsistencies with the minutes, which were also all reviewed.

The origin of this problem would have been the change of order of parties casting votes; followed by a passing of wrong information to employees of parish councils, especially in the polling stations of Matosinhos and Senhora da Hora.

None of these updates changed the outcomethe number of councilors from each party. The PSD was now 500 votes away from electing the fourth councilor – and it would be one less for Chega (who got two).

End in Lisbon

This Tuesday morning there was a recount of votes in São Domingos de Benfica, Lisbon.

O He arrives had stayed with one more vote (and one more councilor) than the CDU – but the communists asked for a new recount, which takes place at the Palace of Justice and will be led by a judicial magistrate.

The new count kept the numbers from the previous recount process: the He arrives stay with two councilors at the Lisbon City Council and the CDU stay with one. Both party forces achieved around 10% of the votes.
