Princ William spoke about the things that bother him when he thinks about the future of his children – Prince George (12), Princess Charlotte (10) and Prince Louis (7). The 43-year-old Prince of Wales admitted that he is most concerned about the state in which we will hand the planet over to the next generation.
“As a father, I always think about the world my children will inherit. I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, opportunity and a sense of hope. But I also know that if we don’t act boldly now, that future is in jeopardy.” the prince confided in Hello! magazine.
William traveled to Rio de Janeiro this week to attend the announcement of the winners of the Earthshot Prize, which he created years ago to support green-minded people and their projects. In Brazil, he will meet with world leaders at the Cop30 climate summit.
“Rio, with its energy, people and iconic landscapes, is the perfect place to celebrate the power of environmental innovation… With the Earthshot Award, we are trying to change direction – to show our children that we are willing to fight for their tomorrow. Urgent optimism is at the heart of this initiative. We believe that while the challenges are enormous, solutions are within reach, and we must act quickly and decisively.” added the prince.
This year’s Earthshot Prize finalists will each receive a million pounds to further develop their projects. The awards ceremony on November 5 will be hosted by Brazilian presenter Luciano Huck.
