At the age of 71, Milan Stieranka from Klenovac, a master of folk art production, died on Sunday (November 2). The Center for Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV) reported about it on the social network.

“He devoted himself to the creation of northern, central and eastern Slovak types of pumps. He was of the opinion that pumps always find their owner. He used them to write stories that he presented at fairs, and he greatly appreciated when his art resonated with people.” said ÚĽUV.
Stieranka’s lifelong work with wood led to the need to preserve the beauty of traditional carving for future generations. Through his teaching activity, he also demonstrated his craft at schools and fairs.
“In 2017, he was honored with the title of Master of Folk Art Production for his many years of honest craftsmanship in the field of wood carving,” added ÚĽUV with the fact that the last farewell to him will be on Wednesday (November 5) at 2 p.m. at the house of mourning in Hnúšt.
