  • King Charles III. he passed David Beckham for a knight.
  • Beckham expressed his pride at receiving the noble title of ‘Sir’.
  • The award is for his sporting achievements and charitable work.

British King Charles III. on Tuesday, he knighted former English football representative David Beckham. He knelt before the head of the royal family during the ceremony at Windsor Castle, thanks to which he received the noble title of “Sir”.

“This is without a doubt the moment I am most proud of. I have been very fortunate in my career to have achieved what I have achieved. To receive such an honor as a knighthood is something I never expected to achieve,” the 50-year-old Beckham was quoted by the AP agency.

The award is also the culmination of Beckham’s efforts to rehabilitate his image in the eyes of fans, with whom he had a turbulent relationship during his active career. He was knighted due to his merits in the field of sports, but also in charity, as he has been cooperating with UNICEF and the United Nations Children’s Fund for two decades.

Beckham is the only English footballer to score in three different World Cups (1998, 2002, 2006). During his active career, he made 115 starts for “Albion”, which is the third highest number in the historical ranking. Only striker Wayne Rooney (120 games) and goalkeeper Peter Shilton (125) are ahead of him.

At club level, he wore the jerseys of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain. Currently, he is a co-owner of the American club Inter Miami, in which the star Argentine Lionel Messi works.
