15 minutes: Mamdani’s victory in New York and the passage of a typhoon in the Philippines

Democrat Zohran Mamdani won the election for mayor of New York. At 34, Mamdani is the first Muslim mayor of New York and also the youngest in a century. At least 90 people died when a typhoon passed through the Philippines. Among the victims are six soldiers whose helicopter crashed during a rescue mission. 200,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes.
