Nora Kuželová, who was the femme fatale of Nitra theater in the 1970s and 1980s, went to acting heaven at the age of 81. The theater wrote about her departure on the social network. “It is with great sadness that we receive the news that Nora Kuželová left us today, November 5, 2025a well-known Slovak theater, radio, television and film actress, and a member of the DAB artistic troupe beloved by the audience in Nitra in the golden eighties,” writes Divadlo Andreja Bagar on Facebook.

According to DAB, Nora Kuželová was born on July 5, 1944 in Bratislava. In 1966, she graduated in acting at the VŠMU in Bratislava and immediately after school she joined the Military Art Ensemble. In the years 1967-1970, she was a member of the Bratislava cabaret Tatra Revue, and subsequently returned to VUS. where she also met her future acting colleague and director Jozef Bednárik.

In the Nitra theater, she was able to make full use of her acting talent, characterized by energy, temperament, femininity, sensuality, a distinctive voice and a sense of humor. She used her comedic talent, for example, as Beatrice in Goldoni’s Klamár (1975) directed by Karol Spišák or as The bride in Brecht’s Small Town Wedding (1978) directed by Ivan Krajíček, he mentions the theater further.

“Nora Kuželová had an exceptional human and professional relationship with her fellow actor and later director Jozef Bednárik. Her Augustias cult Bednárik production The House of Bernarda Alba (1979) was also appreciated by theater critics. Nora Kuželová also appeared as Tamora in Bednárik’s provocative Tito Andronic (1981),” informs the theater about her professional relationship with the legend. She was a member of the DAB artistic ensemble in Nitra until 1985.

DAB reports that after marrying the theater expert Stanislav Vrbko, Nora Kuželová decided to leave Nitra, lived in Bratislava and worked as a freelancer, mainly in television, radio, dubbing and film. She appeared in almost eighty films, television films and series: Contract with the Devil (1967), Red Wine (1972), Vivat Beňovský (1975), Interrupted Game (1979), Emotional Education of One Daša (1980), Nebojsa (1981), Horses grazing on concrete (1982), The Sixth Sentence (1986), Let’s Run, It’s Going! (1987), I’m sitting on a branch and I’m fine (1989), Like wild geese (2000) and many others.

In 2024, she received the Literary Fund Award for lifetime achievement in the field of theater. “Dear Norika, we will forever remember you with love as an endless stream of talent, energy, feminine charm and humor. Honor to your memory!” her colleagues refer her to heaven.
