China is allowing the export of Nexperia chips again – or is it?

The European auto industry’s hopes were high when US President Donald Trump and China’s head of state Xi Jinping met in South Korea last week. But while the heads of state were able to put the trade war on hold for the time being, nothing has progressed on other fronts. This emerges from a letter from Nexperia, the Dutch chip manufacturer that supplies large parts of the European automotive industry – and is caught between the fronts of Washington and Beijing. Accordingly, China’s delivery restrictions remain in place; with no foreseeable end.
