The launched, this Wednesday (4), a digital panel that shows in real time an estimate of the total number of people avoided in the year 2025, thanks to the option for this mode of transport to the detriment of vehicles powered by fuel.
The 65-inch digital panel, called EcoMetrô, was installed at Consolação station, on line 2-Green. It works along the same lines, which calculates the amount of taxes paid by the population.
Updated every five seconds, the calculation is based on the average number of passengers traveling through the metropolitan region of São Paulo, according to the Origin and Destination survey.
So far, the estimate is that, with the metro option, the emission of more than 348 thousand tons of CO₂ has been avoided — the expectation is to exceed 418 thousand tons by the end of this year.
