North American Ricardo Pepi scored in stoppage time to guarantee PSV’s 1-1 draw against Olympiacos this Tuesday (4), denying the Greek club its first victory in this edition of the Champions League.
Pepi took advantage of a rebound from a free kick in the final stretch of the match, after Olympiakos had opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the game, through Gelson Martins.
The Portuguese scored with a powerful shot from the right, following a throw by goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, giving the Greeks an early lead.
However, the Greek team was unable to hold on to the result, and the draw leaves the club with two points from four matches, while PSV has five.
PSV can consider themselves lucky to escape defeat, as they did not show the same convincing performance as their 6-2 thrashing of Napoli in the last round of the Champions League.
Olympiakos, who had been beaten 6-1 by Barcelona in their previous match, moved up two places to 31st in the overall table, while the Dutch fell to 17th.
Now, the Greeks host Real Madrid on November 26th, while PSV travels to face Real Madrid on the same day, in both games valid for the fifth round of the European competition.
