Adega Cooperativa do Algarve celebrated, on October 30th, its 81st anniversary, with the initiative “81 Years of History: Homage to a Legacy of Tradition and Identity”, an event that brought together employees, producers, partners and representatives of the local community at its historic facilities in Lagoa.

According to the Municipality of Lagoa, the ceremony marked “a moment of celebration and recognition that brought together employees, partners, producers and representatives of the local community”, and was led by the ambassador of the Wine Territories of Lagoa, who guided the public through moments of memory and sharing.

The president of the Board of Directors of Única – Adega Cooperativa do Algarve, Jorge Matias, welcomed the guests and highlighted “the importance of preserving the legacy of those who, over eight decades, contributed to the growth and affirmation of the Adega and to the appreciation of Algarve wines”.

The session included a multimedia presentation that revisited the main milestones in the Adega’s history, highlighting its determining role in consolidating the wine-growing identity of Lagoa and the Algarve region.

One of the highlights was the tribute to personalities and entities that left a significant mark on the institution’s trajectory. Among those distinguished was , represented by the Mayor, Luís Encarnação, who, through the Department of Culture and Tourism, has given continuous support to the valorization of the local wine heritage and tradition.

During the ceremony, Luís Encarnação revealed that the municipality is “working so that, in the near future, the Winery returns to work in Lagoa”, adding that “the old building will be repaired and will house a Wine Museum, which will integrate a wine tourism point at the Winery itself, dedicated to carrying out visits, tastings and tasting experiences”.

The event ended with words from engineer António Cavaco, president of Única’s Board of Governing Bodies, who highlighted the importance of “honoring the past without losing sight of the future”, highlighting the Adega’s commitment to continuing to promote the quality and authenticity of Algarve wines.

The celebration ended with a “Lagoa d’Honra”, a convivial moment that brought together all participants in a toast to the future of Adega Cooperativa do Algarve.
