Boil and clean suede shoes. They will be clean, without stains or abrasions

Suede shoes require regular cleaning – but sometimes the use of inappropriate products may cause stains, abrasions, or even damage to the material. When cleaning this type of footwear, we can choose from both professional preparations and home methods. How to clean suede effectively?

Suede shoes are elegant and go well with coats, trench coats or jackets, but their disadvantage is that they get dirty quickly. To avoid this, first of all, we should protect them with impregnation – this will make them less absorbent and therefore less dirty. However, even impregnated shoes require cleaning, and this should be done remembering a few rules, otherwise we may damage the suede.

To clean suede shoes, a special brush will be useful, which will make the task easier, but if you don’t have one, you can also do it, ordinary steam can help. In a wider pot you need to prepare about 2-3 liters of water, when it starts to boil, hold your shoes in the steam (a few centimeters above the pot) for about 20 seconds — they can be rotated during the process so that the steam reaches all places. Then wipe gently with a cotton cloth, remove dirt and leave to dry. However, they should not be dried on a radiator or directly in the sun; you can put a piece of paper rolled into a ball inside to absorb moisture.

Let’s also remember that suede shoes are not suitable for washing in a washing machine – spinning and higher temperatures can quickly damage the material, often causing stains and abrasions.

Steam is one of the most popular home remedies, but you can also use baking soda — it will help you get rid of mud or dust from your shoes. To do this, pour about a teaspoon of baking soda on the shoe and dry clean the suede with it – rub it into the material, leave it for a few hours, and then remove it with a brush for this type of footwear. The baking soda will absorb fats and other dirt.

Of course, you can also choose professional cleaning agents for suede shoes, which can be found in most shoe stores.
