Change and evolve. This is probably the biggest challenge we face in a world where the only certainty seems to be uncertainty.
The 2025 edition of aims to reflect on the major transformations that are shaping the world, in geopolitics, but also in the global economy, in trade chains and in security and defense balances. We live in an era of strategic redefinitions – and critical choices.
Under the theme, this year’s conference invites leaders, experts and decision-makers to debate how States, companies and institutions are adapting to this new global order, where the speed of change requires responsiveness, vision and responsibility.
Maintaining the spirit of previous editions, the CNN Portugal International Summit once again assumes its fundamental motto – “Embrace the Future” – with the conviction that, in the face of change, it is not enough to resist: it is necessary to understand, evolve and lead.
This year’s big guest is former US Secretary of State John Kerry, who served as Barack Obama’s right-hand man during his second term as president.
The conference will be attended by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, or the governor of the Bank of Portugal, Álvaro Santos Pereira.
There will also be space for a panel that brings together the four best-placed candidates in the polls for the January 2026 Presidential elections. Henrique Gouveia e Melo, Luís Marques Mendes, António José Seguro and André Ventura will speak about “A design for Portugal in a changing world”, moderated by Anselmo Crespo.
There will also be a panel dedicated to the theme “Investing in innovation: Portugal’s role in European competitiveness”, which will feature the CEO of Visabeira, Nuno Marques, the general director of Tabaqueira, Marcelo Nico and the president of Leiria City Council, Gonçalo Lopes.
Deloitte CEO, António Lagartixo, will also present a pitch on the topic “From uncertainty to inspiration. From change to progress”.
The CNN Portugal International Summit will also feature an interview with the mayor of Lviv, a city in western Ukraine, in a conversation led by Frederik Pleitgen, a German CNN journalist who covers international affairs.
