A COP30the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, will be held in Belém between the 10th and 21st of this month and will bring together leaders from almost 200 countries.
The event will be divided into two large spaces: the Blue Zone (Blue Zone) and the Green Zone (Green Zone) — each with different objectives and audiences.
A CNN Brazil explains below what the spaces that will make up the event in the capital of Pará are.
What is the Blue Zone?
A Blue Zone it is the diplomatic center of the conference. It is in this space that official negotiations, plenary meetings, multilateral meetings and national pavilion events take place.
Organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the area has restricted access to official delegations, heads of state, observers and accredited press.
Na, the Blue Zone will be installed in City parkin Belém, and will feature meeting rooms, delegation offices, press spaces and thematic pavilions for countries and organizations to present projects and solutions to the climate crisis.
Brazil will have an official pavilion, managed by the federal government, where sustainability programs, commitments and actions will be presented.
It is in the Blue Zone that the direction of international climate policies is defined, with decisions that influence the green economy, the use of natural resources and emissions reduction targets.
What is the Green Zone?
A Green Zone It is a space open to the public, aimed at civil society, companies, public institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Also located in Parque da Cidade, the Green Zone promotes innovation, dialogue and culture, bringing people closer to life.
The space will be the stage for lectures, fairs, exhibitions, shows, cultural presentations and debates on sustainability, with a focus on environmental education and social engagement.
With free access, the Green Zone seeks to make the debate more inclusive and accessible, reinforcing the conference’s commitment to transparency, diversity and popular participation.
Furthermore, the space must present initiatives linked to the green economy and international dialogue (environmental, social and governance) to implement climate actions.
Access and transport to Parque da Cidade
Accredited participants in the Blue Zone will have access to an exclusive transport system, with 15 bus lines and 250 vehicles — 40 of which are electric and the rest with Euro 6 technology, with low pollutant emissions.
These buses will run directly to Parque da Cidade, with exclusive and signposted stops. The service will operate 24 hours a day, from November 1st to 23rd, and can only be used with a Blue Zone credential or letter from the UNFCCC.
In places not served by exclusive buses, it will be possible to use the regular Belém city hall lines. The closest disembarkation point to Parque da Cidade is on Avenida Almirante Barroso.
