Míriam Nogueras urged the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to think about “the time for change” two weeks ago. This Thursday, the bridges between the socialists and Junts have been dynamited. The spokesperson for the Catalan party in Congress has assured, in a press conference whose call had generated much expectation, that the legislature “is blocked” and has announced the rejection of laws that are being processed. “There will be no more collaboration, no more negotiation,” said the spokesperson, who maintained that more than 50 laws will remain in limbo, “unless the PSOE makes an agreement with PP or Vox.”

Nogueras has also been blunt in saying that the Government will not be able to approve the General State Budgets (they have not been presented), nor laws such as the one popularly known as the Bolaños law. “The door has been closed by the PSOE and Sumar by not complying with the agreements, if they have not done it in two years, I do not think they will do it now.”

In a very harsh intervention, the spokesperson accused the PSOE of having wasted what she described as “a historic opportunity”, after 19 meetings abroad, and maintained that the socialists have acted “as if nothing is happening to stay in power.”

On October 30, the bases of Junts, with 6,300 members, according to the latest official data, ratified the management’s decision to put an end to the investiture agreement with the PSOE. 87% of the participants in the consultation supported the decision. The consultation began with a three-hour meeting in which the heavyweights of the Catalan party decided to withdraw their support for the socialists.

A few days before, the Junts spokesperson in Congress urged President Sánchez in plenary to think about “the time for change.” , the deputy assured that “this is not an ultimatum. This is not a warning. This is a rupture” and added that “the legislature cannot reach 2027 because Sánchez does not have a majority.”

The support of the seven Junts deputies in Congress is key. Without them, the Government cannot gain the majority necessary to approve the procedures carried out in the Lower House.
