In Rio de Janeiro to participate in the Earthshot Prize, the Prefeito de Londres, Sadiq Khanhighlighted the importance of one city learning from another when facing the climate crisis.
HAS CNN BrazilKhan cited as an example the implementation of the world’s first and largest ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ), responsible for improving air quality in the United Kingdom’s capital.
“We managed to bring air quality within legal limits not in 200 years, but in nine years. This demonstrates the difference that can be made,” said Khan. “And the great news is that Mayor Eduardo Paes will implement this policy in Rio.”
The Mayor of London also spoke about what he is learning here: “We are learning from Rio about how to adapt and transform our cities to deal with the problem of excessive heat.”
