In an interview with Jovem Pan News, Renan Santos explained where the party intends to position itself on the political scene and stated that it intends to show that ‘being right does not mean being a coward like the previous president was’
Unanimously, the approved last Tuesday (4) the creation of the Missão party. The leader and founder of the acronym, gave an interview to Jovem Pan News this Thursday (6) and told where the party intends to position itself on the political board and what type of voter they will represent.
For Renan Santos, founder of Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL), the idea of creating the party arose from the realization that there are still major obstacles that prevent citizens from accessing politics directly, through their own candidacies.
“It is difficult for a political party to let a candidate run for deputy, mayor, governor or even president of the Republic. The chances are minimal because politics is determined by ‘big shots’ who already control very old political parties”, stated the Mission leader.
Santos argues that, at the moment, the subtitles function as “registry offices” where these “owners make their political decisions”. “In this sense, not only do they have no proposals, they are just there making money from politics. This should not be acceptable in a country as problematic as Brazil”, he declared,
Proposal
In the challenge of standing out among 29 other parties in the country, the party, which will adopt the number 14, faces a fragmented political scenario. Renan states that the main idea of the Mission will be “to make a generational cut”. “[É necessário] look at everything that Brazilian parties and politics got wrong, propose new formulas and models of action, and an ambition and imagination that are very different from what was previously attempted”, he assessed.
For Renan Santos, the proposal to create the new party appears as a reaction to what he considers the stagnation of the Brazilian political system. According to him, the necessary discussions to modernize the country could have already taken place decades ago, but were constantly postponed. “The ideas I brought could have already been discussed by these figures approximately 40 years ago, when the Constitution of 88 was founded. But they don’t discuss it. They just keep dragging their feet, increasing the size of spending with nonsense, corruption scandals repeating themselves one after the other”, stated Santos.
The founder of Missão argues that, despite the alternation of acronyms and leaders, the political scenario remains fragmented and inefficient, without significant advances in the way of representing citizens. “The years have passed, these parties emerge and appear with their proposals and everything remains absolutely the same, if not worse”, he adds.
Application
Regarding plans for the 2026 elections, Renan Santos confirmed his intention to compete competitively in all states, including running for Palácio do Planalto. He positioned himself as the group’s “natural name” for the presidential race. “If it is to compete, it is to compete to win”, he declared, adding that he intends to show that “being right-wing does not mean being a coward like the previous president”.
“Like it or not, I’m one of the leaders, I’m the founder of Movimento Brasil Livre 11 years ago, I founded the party, and finally, I’m the author of some of the ideas that we’re going to take forward there. So, yes, for now my name is on the table, I started appearing in polls and, if I’m going to run, I’m going to run to win. To also show the right-wing camp itself that being right-wing doesn’t mean being a coward like the previous president. So, if I’m going to be the candidate, I I will be as courageous as possible”, said Renan Santos.
TSE approval
With the approval of the Superior Electoral Court, the party will adopt the number 14 in the electronic ballot box, resulting in the country now having 30 parties authorized to contest the 2026 general elections. Unanimously, the ministers approved the party’s registration request and recognized that the party met the requirements established by electoral legislation.
The lawyers pointed out that Missão obtained 577,999 signatures from voters in favor of the creation, higher than the minimum of 547 thousand signatures provided for by law and equivalent to 0.5% of those valid for the creation. in the 2022 elections. In addition, the party established regional directories and established measures to prevent gender-based violence in politics in its statutes.
The new party is linked to the Movimento Brasil Livre (MBL) and defends the end of public service privileges, tightening of criminal laws, respect for fiscal responsibility and combating deforestation.
Creation of parties
To be created, the party must acquire legal personality and register its statute with the TSE. For registration to be admitted, the party must prove national character and, within two years, from the date of acquisition of legal personality, it must obtain the so-called minimum support.
According to the legislation, the minimum support is the support of voters not affiliated with any party that corresponds to at least 0.5% of the votes cast in the last general election for the Chamber of Deputies, excluding blank and invalid votes, distributed across a third or more of the states, with a minimum of 0.1% of the electorate that voted in each of them.
