The actress Taís Araújo46, who would have denounced the author of “Anything goes”, Manuela Diashad already complained about her character Raquel before the end of the remake. The supposed disagreement between them began to have repercussions in August, when Araújo opened up about the direction of the soap opera.

About two months before the end of the remake, in an interview with Quem, the script’s decision to make Raquel, the central character of the plot, return to selling sandwiches on the beach after having already achieved a successful career as a businesswoman.

For her, this choice represented a lost opportunity to build a new narrative about black Brazilian women.

Taís said he was scared by the turn of the story: “That moment of Raquel going back to selling sandwiches on the beach, I confess I was shocked. Because it wasn’t the original plot. So, for me, Raquel was on an upward curve.”

She further added: “When I see that this didn’t happen, as an artist who wants to tell a new country narrative, I confess that I feel sad and frustrated.”

The actress highlighted the symbolism of the character from the beginning: “When I asked Raquel to do it, I said: ‘Man, this woman’s narrative is the face of Brazil. And she will have a social rise through her work. She will be beautiful and she will rise and she will remain'”.

And he ended with a reflection: “It’s urgent that we see ourselves in this place. And I think that Raquel had every opportunity to tell this new narrative about this woman. When I read it, I thought: ‘Oh, my God, there won’t be any? No, there won’t be'”.

Amid the repercussion of Taís Araújo’s outburst, experienced by Humberto Carrão.

In the final stretch of the remake, the protagonist’s plot underwent changes, and she did not appear in some notable events in the first version that involved her. Furthermore, in the last week of the work, its outcome was the purchase of a house, marriage to Ivan (Renato Góes) and waiting for his grandson.

Complaint against author

This Wednesday (5), it came to light that Taís Araújo had registered a complaint against the author, Manuela Dias, with the Rio de Janeiro broadcaster’s compliance department. According to information from Folha de São Paulo, the complaint occurred after a discussion between the two about the character’s development throughout the work.

The complaint, according to the journalist, is under internal investigation. Wanted by CNN BrazilGlobo has not yet returned contact.

According to the publication, the disagreement between the two would have started in August, when the actress sought out the author with the intention of talking about the development of the character. At the time, she argued that “Raquel was another black protagonist written to suffer too much”expressing his dissatisfaction with the direction of the plot.

Taís also reported pressure from black movement entities of which he is a part, who were disappointed with the representation of his character in the serial. Manuela reportedly disagreed with the idea, causing a “strong discussion” of a professional nature.

Manuela allegedly also filed a complaint against Araújo, alleging a breach of the company’s ethical code, in addition to denying the discomfort since the actress raised the racial issue publicly. Since then, the two have not been speaking to each other.
