With a route aimed at overtaking and which allows an average speed of 241km/h, the Autódromo Parque de Guaratiba project, located in the west zone of the city, was announced this Thursday (6), in . In the presentation, which took place during an event at , the planned investment to build the construction is more than R$1.3 billion and the capacity is around 120 thousand people.

“It’s all private resources. There isn’t a dime of public money, of the taxes that people pay. Therefore, we believe a lot in the deadlines. We are talking here about starting in the first quarter of 2026. As I am always a person who is zealous with deadlines, I imagine that in 2029 we will have this race track ready”, said the mayor who intends to put the capital of Rio back on the radar of the world of speed calendar.

“Now the challenge is, not only to have what already exists in Brazil and Rio de Janeiro lost, but also to bring Motovelocidade, Formula Indy, in short… Think about all the alternatives and hypotheses that we can have from 2029 onwards,” he added.

According to the project, the track will be 4.7 kilometers long and will have four straights, two of which are parallel and ten curves. The route can also be adapted to suit 11 automobile category options. The project will be carried out in an area of ​​more than two million square meters and was created by the same specialists responsible for the circuit in Mandalika, Indonesia, and Navarra, in .

The new racetrack will have grandstands, parking, helipad, spaces for cabins and stores, in addition to all the necessary paddock and box structures. “The place will certainly become a sporting reference and will contribute to revitalizing international motorsport in the region – commented Thiago Nunes, member of the Populous team, the company responsible for developing the permanent facilities at the race track.
