When looking for an idea for a salad for dinner, it is worth taking inspiration from Chinese restaurants, where aromatic and crunchy cabbage and carrot salad are often served. However, for it to be perfect, we need to know the secret responsible for its unique taste and consistency.
Our salad will have a deep and interesting flavor if we take care of one very important aspect. The key to success in this case is to prepare the right sauce. It’s a sweet and sour dressing that makes ordinary cabbage with carrots turns into something extremely tasty and interesting.
Sugar plays a very important role in this case as it gently caramelizes the vegetables. This gives them a deeper flavor. In turn added to vinegar brings freshness, and garlic adds clarity and a slightly spicy accent. Some people decide to add Chinese mun mushrooms to the salad, which are delicate in taste, slightly crunchy and absorb the dressing well.. We can also add mung bean sprouts, chives or roasted sesame seeds.
If we want to achieve a stunning effect, we must also remember: chopping the cabbage very finely so that the sauce we have created can cover it thoroughly and evenly. It is also important to maintain the right proportions in the recipe, because they create the balance between sweet and sour taste. Appropriately a balanced salad will resemble the tasty version known to us from Chinese restaurants.

Preparing this delicious salad is not complicated. To prepare it, we will need several ingredients. Most of them are available in supermarkets. Here is a list of products necessary to make the salad:
- 400 g white cabbage,
- 1 carrot,
- 5 tablespoons of brown sugar,
- 100 ml of oil,
- 6 tablespoons of rice vinegar,
- 2 teaspoons of salt.
- 2 cloves of garlic.
The first step is to chop it up. Let’s remember to make these fragments as small as possible. Then grate the carrots using a large-hole grater and mix them with the cabbage in a large bowl. The next thing we need to do is combine vinegar, sugar, oil and salt in a pot. Bring the mixture to a boil and add the pressed garlic. IN When the sauce starts to boil, remove it from the stove.
Pour the prepared hot dressing over the vegetables. Mix everything thoroughly and place it in a closed container. Place in the fridge for at least 12 hours to allow the cabbage to soften and the flavors to mingle. It is recommended to remove the salad half an hour before serving. It goes perfectly with, among others, Chinese fried rice, gong bao chicken, but also with ordinary pork neck or ribs.
