The press does not want to lose control: it only sells 33% to the Italian MFE

Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO of the Impresa group.

There is still no binding agreement between both parties, but Balsemão’s son is expected to continue as CEO after the injection of up to 30 million. Limit, however, is defined.

A Business confirmed this Thursday that negotiations are underway with the MediaForEurope group (MFE), for the sale of up to 33% of the capital, but there is still no binding agreement, in a statement sent to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

“Following those published on the 27th and 28th of September 2025, Impresa confirms that negotiations are still ongoing with the MFE group, although there is, on this date, no binding agreement between the parties”, reads the statement.

This Wednesday, the CMVM ordered the lifting of the suspension of trading in Impresa – SGPS, SA shares, after the company released the information.

The group that owns SIC and Expresso signaled that “although the final terms of the agreement are still under discussion, it is clarified that the object of the negotiations is limited, at this moment, to the subscription of a minority stakenot exceeding 33% of the share capital, by an entity of the MFE group, through a capital increase in Impresa”.

The entry into the capital of the owner of Expresso and SIC of MFE, held by Pier Silvio Berlusconi, son of the former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconicome to fruition this year, according to .

The Italians must inject up to 30 million to take 33% of the Impresa group, with Francisco Pinto Balsemão continuing at the helm, as CEO, according to Negócios.

The Portuguese group faces a delicate financial context. In the first half of 2025, losses worsened to 5.1 million euros, an increase justified in part by the costs of the ongoing restructuring. Without these extraordinary charges, the net result would have been negative at 3.9 milliona similar value to the previous year.

Negotiations for the passage of a third of the testimony take place just days after that of Francisco Pinto Balsemão, founder of the Impresa group.
