The Supreme Administrative Court (NSS) of the Czech Republic did not comply with any of the complaints related to the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, which took place on October 3 and 4. This was announced by NSS chairman Vojtěch Šimíček on Thursday. The results of the elections are thus confirmed, informs the correspondent of TASR in Prague.

  • The Supreme Administrative Court of the Czech Republic rejected all complaints regarding the parliamentary elections.
  • A total of 53 election complaints were submitted, of which 19 were assessed.
  • During the counting of votes in Blansko, the court found inaccuracies in the calculations.
  • The court filed a criminal complaint against the electoral commission for errors in Blansko.
  • No systemic violations of election laws have been confirmed by the court.

He specified that a total of 53 election complaints were submitted, but some of them were premature or late and some did not meet the conditions of the procedure. 19 remained for the substantive assessment of their court, while it rejected all of them. “In not a single case did we come to the conclusion that the election complaints were sufficiently well-founded that our conclusion would lead to declaring the election of any of the candidates for deputy to be invalid,” said Simicek.

However, the court found errors in the counting of votes in Blansko. After recalculation, the Pirates won 20 more votes and the ANO movement 21 less. It did not affect the outcome of the election, so the court did not intervene. However, since, according to the court, it did not have to be just inattention given the number of errors, decided to file a criminal complaint for this discrepancy in the work of the electoral commission.

According to Šimíček, most of the complaints were filed by natural persons, only two were filed by political parties, namely the Pirates and the CR movement in 1st place. Complaints most often related to problems with e-Documents and postal voting, objections were filed against the so-called unrecognized coalitions, and some questioned the correctness and honesty of the election campaign. In three cases, the court requested electoral documentation.

“Even after examining 53 election complaints, the electoral commission found no systemic misconduct, that is, no systemic violation of electoral laws. The errors we found were individual excesses,” announced the president of NSS. According to him, the number of complaints that the judges assessed substantively was not high, which he explains, for example, by the fact that the election result was not close or that the decisive election actors accepted it immediately after the election.
