Portugal – Egypt (handball) in Moimenta da Beira
Two games between Portugal and Egypt in the interior, far from the biggest cities. Two games without empty seats in the pavilion.
Portugal e Egypt played twice last week, in the Terras do Demo 2025 International Tournament.
In the first of these private games of handball, last Thursday, Egypt won by . But in the second friendly, on Saturday, the Portuguese team won 30-27; with João Gomes standing out in this second game, with 8 goals.
This Terras do Demo 2025 International Tournament took place in Moimenta da Beiradistrict of Viseu. It is very far from the main cities: 150 km from Porto, 160 km from Coimbra or 360 km from Lisbon, for example.
Both games had sold out. Even before the first duel, there were no tickets for sale for any of the games; they had sold out.
ZAP confirmed that there were no empty seats in the second game. With the notion that there is only one bench.

There is a clear bet on the interior of the country by the Portuguese Handball Federation.
President Miguel Laranjeiro explains, in conversation with ZAP: “It is a bet by the Portuguese Handball Federation in take handball to every possible place in Portugal”.
“All supportersstarting with the youngest, should have the right watching top quality handball.”
“Several municipalities in the interior have been able to interpret this desire and support these initiatives. It is the result of dialogue between the Portuguese Handball Federation and the various municipalities”, continues the president, who highlights the gratitude a “estes supports as they are the only way to bring handball to these regions”.
