The suspect allegedly stabbed several times, leaving the victim lying on the ground. Soon after, the man drank what authorities believe was bleach and fled the scene.
A woman died stabbedthis Thursday morning, in Porto, with the alleged attacker, who initially fled, having already been detained by the PSP, a police source revealed.
Public Relations source from the Porto Metropolitan Command told Lusa that the 36-year-old woman was attacked on public roadsin Praça da Corujeira, close to a school.
According to witnesses at the scene, the victim and the attacker were involved in an argument moments before the attack. The suspect allegedly stabbed several times, leaving the woman lying on the ground.
“We walked half a kilometer after him, but then he disappeared”, reported one of the witnesses.
According to the PSP, the victim was transported to Hospital de São João, but he did not survive his injuries.
O suspect, a 38-year-old man, allegedly attempted suicide, “ingesting a liquid substance that with suspected to be bleach and then left the place”, aadvances the PSP, in a statement.
Later, “it was reported that the suspected man had thrown himself from the “Pego Negro” viaduct, next to Rotunda das Areias, and was transported to Hospital de São João, in Porto, in serious condition”, adds the police force.
The note states that both knew each other, although the nature of the relationship between them is not known.
The investigation has now passed to the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Police.
