At almost six meters long and weighing more than 2.5 tons, a pickup truck of this size is expected to have modest performance. The Ford F-150, however, is the opposite of that. Equipped with a V8 motoracceleration is an element of surprise.
Due to the 405 hp under the hood, the pickup drives most of the time as if it were a dormant volcano. But just step on the accelerator and the explosion happens and it’s inevitable not to “stick” to the seat. Adrenaline runs through the blood and soon the smile appears.
A CNN Brazil tested this dual personality of Ford F-150 Lariata version that uses chrome in the design. There were five days of evaluation with the large pickup truck.
In everyday life, there was little noise from the eight cylinders and this is due to the excellent acoustic insulation of the large truck. At times it is possible to forget that we are on an engine V8 Coyote.
In terms of drivability, the F-150 is also pleasing. Even though some care is necessary when driving a vehicle of this size. It does its job well and the comfort on board is positive.
The seats embrace all occupants well and those in the first row have some extra features, such as heating, ventilation and electric seat adjustment. Another positive point is the air conditioning. The can cool the cabin quickly, even on hotter days.
An interesting feature is the remote start, which can be activated using the vehicle key. Ford F-150. This way, it is possible to start the pickup remotely to air-condition the cabin before even entering.
The space is something enviable. Even with the one installed in the second row, other adults can accommodate themselves comfortably.
Driving with a large pickup truck, and with a train from robust strengthdemands a lot. Urban consumption is not the best and this is not to be expected from a vehicle like this. However, this should not be a problem for those who have R$560,000 in their account to purchase the F-150 Lariat.
With a 136 liter fuel tank (gasoline), we traveled more than 700 kilometers with the Ford F-150 Lariatbetween urban and road routes.
Check out the main positive and negative points of the Ford F-150 Lariat:
Windows are not automatic in the rear
For a vehicle that costs more than half a million reais, it is a shame not to have all electric windows with a one-touch system.
Without induction charger
Charging your cell phone can be a problem in the Ford F-150. Without the necessary ventilation for this type of technology, the smartphone heats up and requires action to place it in front of the ventilation outlet to cool the device.

Multimedia doesn’t work in Portuguese
Despite not being a Brazilian car, Ford does not allow the multimedia to be in Portuguese, with a message on the screen warning.

Filling the tank is expensive
As we said above, filling the tank is expensive. Based on average prices carried out by Petrobras, a liter of gasoline costs R$6.17 in Brazil. To complete the tank you need to pay R$840 for each tank. With premium gasoline, a tank can cost more than R$1,000.

Urban consumption
The urban consumption of the Ford F-150 is also not the best. In our tests, the pickup averaged between 5 km/l and 6 km/l, depending on the route. After a period of 220 kilometers in the city alone, the final average on the on-board computer was 5.7 km/l.

Power
The strength of the pickup is a highlight. With its 405 hp of power and 56.7 kgfm of torque, it is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Although it is not its main proposal, it also delivers sportiness and emotion to those on board.

Towing and pulling modes
Towing or tackling a more critical stretch is not a problem for the big girl. The F-150 has a towing capacity of 3,492 kg and a load capacity of 740 kg in the bed. In terms of off-road, it has 4×4 traction with “high”, “low” or automatic options and electronic differential lock.

Work table
In the F-150, it is possible to retract the gear knob and transform the center console into a table for working, reading or even as a support for eating.

Electric steering wheel and pedals adjustment
The pickup is expensive for its price, but it is packed with technology equipment. An example of this are the electrically adjustable pedals and steering wheel. This way, it becomes easier to adjust and reach a more comfortable driving position.

Road consumption
On the road, the pickup’s consumption was somewhat surprising in our tests. On a 223-kilometer stretch on the highway, the pickup showed a final average of 9 km/l on the onboard computer. For the size of the pickup, the number is very satisfactory and deserves to be highlighted.
