Take-Two has once again postponed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, pushing the highly anticipated video game another six months to November 2026.

In a statement released this Thursday (6) along with the quarterly results, Take-Two stated that it is giving the Rockstar Games team “additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish that players expect and deserve.”

The postponement to November 19th next year means the costs of completing the game continue to rise. This is the second public delay for Grand Theft Auto VI, which was originally slated for a fall 2025 release before being pushed back to May of next year.

Grand Theft Auto VI, a crime story set in a fictional version of Miami, is expected to be one of the most profitable video games of all time. The previous game, Grand Theft Auto V, sold more than 220 million copies, making it the second best-selling game in history, behind only Minecraft.

Shares of Take-Two fell as much as 18% to $208 in extended trading after the postponement was announced, but recovered about half of the losses, overshadowing quarterly results that beat Wall Street estimates.

In the second quarter ended September 30, Take-Two reported revenue of $1.96 billion, beating estimates of $1.72 billion. Adjusted earnings per share were $1.46, above estimates of 94 cents.

Last week, Rockstar Games fired more than 30 employees, in a move that prompted British union organizers to accuse the company of trying to prevent unions from forming. The company told Bloomberg that the fired employees were leaking confidential information.
