The striker, from , was once again called up to represent the Dutch national team in the 2026 qualifiers. The player was included in the list released this Friday (7) by coach Ronald Koeman. The Netherlands plays against Poland, on the 14th, next Friday, and against Lithuania, on the 17th. The Netherlands are in first place in Group G, with 16 points, against 13 from second-placed Poland. Only the first-placed team in each group qualify for the World Cup, while the second-placed teams play in the repechage.
Memphis should not lose any Corinthians match because of the call-up. The black and white team faces Ceará next Sunday (9), and the Dutch player is available to Dorival Júnior. The next round only takes place on November 20, three days after the Netherlands’ last commitment at Data Fifa, when the team faces São Paulo.
Recently, Memphis became the top scorer in Dutch history, with 54 goals, surpassing star player Van Persie. In the last FIFA Dates, he scored four goals for the European team in four games valid for the European Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. In the same period, the player suffered from an injury and also faced difficulties finding the net when he returned to play for Corinthians. The athlete even showed irritation when asked about his performance by the black and white team and the Dutch national team.
This season, Memphis has nine goals and ten assists in 43 matches for Corinthians. Outside the field, the player’s name was involved in controversy after it came to light that president Osmar Stábile asked him to leave the luxury hotel where he lives, paid for by the club, because of the high cost – approximately R$250,000 per month.
