Plant it instead of thuja. It is prettier and more elegant

Plant an evergreen coniferous tree that gives serious competition to its popularity. It is suitable not only for the garden, but also for the balcony and terrace. It will please the eyes with its intense color all year round. We present the most important information about the phenomenal large-pine cypress.

Large-pine cypress, also known as cypress mascrocarpa, is not a completely frost-resistant plant.so even in the garden it should be grown in a pot. This way, we can easily overwinter the specimen indoors.

What does a large-pine cypress look like? This evergreen conifer is characterized by a dense and compact crown with a conical shape. In older specimens, it becomes spreading and irregular.

The needles of this plant are similar to those of thuja. They look like attached leaves and their color is green-yellow or bluish, depending on the variety. When we crush them, they will begin to emit an intense, resin-citrus scent.

Cypress cones are large and spherical, initially green, but turn brown over time. Due to their size, we call it “large-cone”.

The specimen grows to a maximum of 250 cm. It is usually purchased during the holiday season as a Christmas tree. Many people place the conifer on the terrace or balcony, but it also serves as a great background for flowering plants.

Large-pine cypress prefers a bright position, but not with direct sunlightbecause its delicate needles may burn. They don’t like a lot of shadow – this causes them to become discolored. Therefore, the best option will be the western or eastern side of the garden, terrace or balcony.

This coniferous tree is planted in fertile and permeable soil with a slightly acidic reaction. It must be constantly moist, so you should water this plant regularly. Otherwise it will start to die.

It is also necessary to fertilize large-cone cypress. We use multi-component fertilizers for conifers.

Wintering is an important step in the cultivation of this specimen. In winter, we move it to a room with a temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius. It cannot be higher, because then the tree will dry out.
