Leader of the PP in , Dr. Luizinho (RJ) celebrated the fact that the bill that regulates the sector, for which he was rapporteur, was significantly approved by the House after years of processing. There were 330 votes in favor, a quorum higher than that required for constitutional amendments.
“The streaming project had been in progress for ten years. There is no way a sector could have been operating for so many years without a legal framework. It was urgent for us to build a consensus and approve this matter”, he stated.
. The main measure is the creation of a tax for the main companies in the area at a rate of 4% aimed at promoting the Brazilian audiovisual sector.
According to people linked to the audiovisual industry and leaders in the Chamber, approval was only possible because the main stakeholders had to give in a little.
Throughout the process, there was pressure from segments linked to culture, such as actors and producers, as well as industry representatives, who questioned the viability of the project.
The assessment is that the final text is the result of a consensus and that there should be no problems for approval by the Senate and sanction by President Lula.
