The governor (Republicans) said this Friday (7) that gratitude to () “does not prescribe” and praised the São Paulo Judiciary after harshly criticizing the minister for reporting on the coup plot process in the (Supreme Federal Court).
Tarcísio spoke during the inauguration of , former controller-general of the Union in the Bolsonaro government, as advisor to the TCE-SP (Court of Auditors of ). Also this Friday, the former president’s conviction for the attempted coup d’état began.
“Gratitude is something that doesn’t prescribe, it will never prescribe. That’s why I’m very grateful to everything, very grateful for everything”, said the governor, who is tipped to run for president with the vacuum opened by Bolsonaro’s absence in the 2026 electoral contest. Tarcísio denies the claim and says he will seek re-election in São Paulo.
At the end of this phase of the process at the STF, Bolsonaro can begin serving his sentence in a closed regime. He was sentenced to 37 years in prison. Since August, he has been under house arrest for failing to comply with precautionary measures imposed by Moraes.
The former president’s eldest son, the senator (PL-RJ) attended Rosário’s inauguration and was moved when the former CGU mentioned his father. Rosário cried when talking about Bolsonaro and had to interrupt his speech three times.
“Here, Flávio, I pay tribute to your father, who allowed me to continue my work as Minister of State, giving me all the support for running the CGU. I would like to count on his presence here in this auditorium today, but I have a lot of trust in Brazilian institutions and I know that he will soon be with us”, he said.
It was Tarcísio who nominated Rosário for the position of advisor to the TCE. Previously, Rosário held the position of general controller of the State in São Paulo. The two were classmates in the same class at Aman (Agulhas Negras Military Academy).
Last to speak, the governor praised the performance of the São Paulo Judiciary and said that “São Paulo has given a great example of Powers that are harmonious”. In recent weeks, he has been searching after calling Moraes a tyrant at the event on September 7th on Avenida Paulista.
Appointed by Bolsonaro to the STF, minister André Mendonça also attended the ceremony, in the TCE auditorium in the capital of São Paulo, as did senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), another former minister of the Bolsonaro government.
Rosário asked Mendonça to say a prayer of thanks with another priest. “We know that the State is secular, but we cannot fail to thank God for life”, said the STF minister.
After the event, Flávio went to Atibaia, in the interior of São Paulo, to participate in the inauguration of the regional PL headquarters, .
Rosário takes over the seat at TCE from former counselor Antônio Roque Citadini, who retired in August this year. His appointment was approved at the end of September by Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), following opposition to the government.
Rosário’s name was sent by Tarcísio to Alesp on the same day that the STF began. Rosário was at the ministerial meeting in July 2022, in which the former president reportedly instructed those present to discredit electronic voting machines.
So CGU, Rosário defended auditing the polls and criticized inspection reports made by technicians from the controllership itself.
