At Landvetter International Airport in Gothenburg, Sweden on Thursday they spotted at least one drone. The operation of the airport has been suspended, TASR writes, according to a Reuters report. “A drone or drones have been spotted at Landvetter Airport,” said a spokesman for the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority (LFV). The local police received a report at 5:41 p.m. and soon after that they started collecting information about the incident locally.
The state-owned operating company Swedavia states that Gothenburg’s Landvetter Airport is the second largest in the country after Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport. “The airspace over (Airport) Landvetter is currently closed due to the suspected presence of a drone. It will remain closed while police investigate.” said Swedavie’s operations director Susanne Norman.
Unknown drones have caused several outages at European airports in recent weeks. Some European officials see it as part of a hybrid war with Russia, but Moscow has ruled out any involvement.
