According to the White House, pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk also agreed to expand investments in the United States
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), announced on Thursday (6.Nov.2025) an agreement with pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk to reduce the price of popular weight loss medications (slimming pens), cases of Weg’s e Ozempic.
The measure is part of Trump’s strategy to “putting North American patients first”. Here is the (PDF – 649 kB) of the official statement.
“President Trump is taking decisive action to rebalance a system that has allowed pharmaceutical manufacturers to offer low prices to other wealthy nations while charging Americans significantly higher prices.”says an excerpt from the document.
The White House called the deal a “historic reduction”. Here are the values, according to the North American government:
- prices for Ozempic and Wegovy will drop from $1,000 and $1,350 per month, respectively, to $350 when purchased through TrumpRx –initiative launched by Trump that opens up space for consumers to buy prescription medicines at a discount on a website;
- If approved, the price of Zepbound and Orforglipron will drop from $1,086 per month to an average of $346 when purchased by TrumpRx.
The future oral version of Wegovy, still being approved, is expected to cost US$150 in the first month of use.
INVESTMENTS
The US also stated that there will be new investments from pharmaceutical companies:
- Novo Nordisk – “It has committed to investing an additional US$10 billion to strengthen its presence in the United States, including the full production of the Wegovy tablet, if approved”;
- Eli Lilly – “Under President Trump’s leadership, Eli Lilly has announced at least $27 billion in new investments in U.S. manufacturing.”.
