Palmeiras remains in the fight for the title of Series A of the 2025 Brazilian Championship. The team has 68 points, three more than vice-leader Flamengo. The fight for the top remains fierce between the two teams, with Cruzeiro also alive, but a little further away, with 63 points.
In the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship, Verdão beat Santos 2-0, and guaranteed an increase in their title chances. What was previously 64.27% has now risen to 74.35%, according to Gato Mestre’s figures.
The red-and-blacks drew 2-2 with São Paulo in Vila Belmiro and saw their chances of becoming champions drop from 34.11% to 23.32%.
Palmeiras has guaranteed leadership for another round
There are seven rounds left until the end of the championship and Palmeiras opened up a two-round lead with this mid-week results.
The team could still be defeated by Mirassol this weekend and see rival Flamengo add a victory against Santos, and will still remain in first place thanks to the number of victories.
In this scenario, leader and vice-leader would have the same 68 points, but the São Paulo team would have 21 victories against 20 for the Rio team.
