Acre ended its participation in the International Coffee Week (SIC) 2025, in Belo Horizonte (MG), with an unprecedented result: two coffees from Acre were among the 15 best in the country in the Coffee of the Year category, one of the most important of the event.
Although the podium was occupied by producers from Espírito Santo and Rondônia, Acre’s performance confirms the state’s progress in the production of special and sustainable coffees.
It is worth remembering that four producers were still among the 100 best in the country. Acre’s representatives were from two different cities and participated in the Coffee of the Year (COY) category, the event’s main competition. They are: Wagner Álvares, Wanderlei de Lara and Felipe Caffer, from Acrelândia, and Luiz Ferreira, from Cruzeiro do Sul.

Created in 2012, Coffee of the Year aims to bring together the best coffees in the country, recognize the great highlights of the year and value new origins that have been transforming national production.
The State Secretary of Agriculture, Luís Tchê, highlighted that Acre’s progress in the sector is the result of the work to support and promote coffee growing carried out by the Gladson Cameli government.
“At SIC, producers gain experience, exchange information with colleagues from other regions, talk to buyers and understand how to add value to their products. The more we take them to see them up close, the more transformative the experience is. I’m sure this changes their lives in the field”, said Tchê.
