Last Tuesday (4) approved a constitutional amendment that recognizes the Audit Courts as permanent and essential bodies for the external control of public administration.
The approval of the so-called PEC of Essentiality was considered historic by the country’s accounts control sector and monitored by advisors from all over Brazil.
It was articulated by the Association of Members of the Brazilian Audit Courts (Atricon) in conjunction with the country’s 33 audit courts.
“It is a source of great joy to see the recognition of the essentiality of the Audit Courts enshrined in the constitutional text, strengthening external control and public interest throughout Brazil”, stated the president of Atricon, Edilson Silva.
The amendment, which had already been approved by the in 2022, is now for promulgation by the .
