The CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) announced this Saturday (8) the call-up of John, Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, for the Brazilian team’s friendly games against Senegal and Tunisia, in November.
Former Botafogo, the goalkeeper was called to replace Hugo Souza, from Corinthians, who suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh during a match against Grêmio in the Brazilian Championship, last Sunday (2).
John had received his first call-up to the national team in October, for the friendlies against South Korea and Japan. On that occasion, he replaced Ederson, also injured.
Ederson, from Fenerbahçe, who has already recovered, in addition to Bento, from Al Nassr, are the other names for the position in the group.
Coming off a comeback defeat to Japan, the national team faces the Senegalese on November 15th, at the Emirates Stadium, in London, England, at 1pm (Brasília time).
Afterwards, he travels to France to face the Tunisian team on the 18th, at the Decathlon Stadium, in Lille, at 4:30 pm. The friendlies will be Brazil’s last two games this year.
The next games should serve as Carlo Ancelotti’s final tests before the World Cup. After the friendlies against the African teams, Brazil will only have one more window to get together before the World Cup, in March, when the coach already intends to have a group closer to the one he should take to the tournament.
