One month after being removed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), referee Ramon Abatti Abel (FIFA-SC) returned to play a role in a match with controversial decisions, this Friday (7).
He was selected to referee Athletic-MG x Ferroviária, in São João del-Rei, for the 35th round of Série B. It was the first game of major importance that Abel refereed since .
The most questionable move of the match was the cancellation of what would have been Ferroviária’s second goal, when the game was tied 1-1, 21 minutes into the second half.
Activated by VAR, the referee saw a touch on the arm of Alencar, from Locomotiva, at the origin of the play. The players from the São Paulo team were outraged, claiming that the ball had hit the player’s body before.
Goal in stoppage time after expulsion
In stoppage time, Abatti Abel sent off Vitor Barreto with a direct red card in a move very similar to one of the controversial matches in São Paulo 2 x 3 Palmeiras. .
In the Series B match, the foul led to a cross and the winning goal for Athletic-MG, which left the relegation zone thanks to three points, complicating Ferroviária — .
After yet another widespread revolt, Locomotiva’s coach, Claudinei Oliveira, was expelled for complaining.
Harassment of Ramon Abatti Abel
The referee from the Santa Catarina Football Federation was removed on October 6, after refereeing São Paulo 2 x 3 Palmeiras at Morumbis, in the 27th round of the Brasileirão.
In addition to the turnaround in the score, Choque-Rei was marked by refereeing controversy and a heated atmosphere among the players.
When the team still beat their rival 2-0, the home team complained about a penalty in their favor. Seven minutes into the second half, striker Gonzalo Tapia was brought down in the area by midfielder Allan, but referee Ramon Abatti Abel did not award the penalty (check out the move in the video below).
