The Minister of Education, stated this Saturday (November 8, 2025) that students affected by the disease in Paraná will have the right to retake the (National Secondary Education Examination) test.

The (Paraná State Department of Education) has already suspended the exam in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, one of the regions most affected by the climate phenomenon.

“We are monitoring the regions affected by the tornado and actions to ensure that no participants are harmed”wrote the minister on his profile on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Camilo, the new date of the test will be defined and announced by Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira).

In a video published on Instagram, the minister expressed solidarity with the families of the victims: “I leave a clear message: no one enrolled in Enem will be harmed due to the events in Paraná. They will have the right to reapplication on a date that will be announced by Inep”.

Here is the minister’s full statement on Instagram:

“Hi, everyone. Here at the Ministry of Education, this Saturday, I am meeting with the entire MEC team. Next to me, the president of Inep, the Palace, the executive secretary and all the secretaries. Almost 5 million people will take the test, which involves a structure of more than 300 thousand people across the country. I want, first, to express my Condolences for the deaths that occurred today in Paraná, due to the tornado. We have been following what has been happening there since the beginning. Our solidarity with all the families and the State of Paraná. I leave a clear message: no one enrolled in the Enem will be harmed due to the events in Paraná. hug.”

Tornado

According to the government of Paraná, the tornado that hit Rio Bonito do Iguaçu was classified as F2 on the Fujita scale, with winds of 180 km/h and 250 km/h. There are, however, “strong evidence” that, in some points, the gusts exceeded 250 km/h, which would increase the classification to F3.

According to Simepar (Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System), the phenomenon was caused by a low atmospheric pressure system formed between Paraguay and southern Brazil, which drove a cold front associated with an extratropical cyclone.

“One of these storms, classified as a supercell, generated a tornado over the municipality of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, causing very severe damage to the city”said Reinaldo Kneib, meteorologist at the (Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System).
