Elections in Benfica: Cristóvão Carvalho results below expectations

Lawyer Cristóvão Carvalho, one of the defeated candidates in the first round of the Benfica elections, refused to reveal who his vote would be for, Rui Costa or João Noronha Lopes, proposing to help “unify Benfica fans”.

“At this moment, Benfica fans have to make this decision. I will not reveal my voting direction. In addition to the challenges it faces as a structure, the biggest challenge that Benfica faces is to unify Benfica fans and, from this perspective, I have already made myself available to do so, as much as I can as a Benfica fan and partner,” he revealed.

Cristóvão Carvalho, who on October 25 was the one who received the least preferences among the six initial competitors (0.18%), spoke before exercising his right to vote, next to the Estádio da Luz pavilions, and conveyed an opinion contrary to that of the majority, considering the debates held between both candidates to be positive.

Continuity or change? Two weeks after the most attended election in the history of football, Benfica members are once again called to the polls to choose the next president.

Will Rui Costa be able to repeat his first round triumph and be re-elected? Or will João Noronha Lopes reach the majority and become the new leader of the “incarnates”?

Voting began at 8:30 am and will continue until 10:00 pm.
