National Highway Company (NDS) on Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m., the section of the R2 expressway between Detva and Kriváň is closed. The closure will last until Monday (November 10) evening. TASR was informed about this by the media communication department of the NDS.
Added, already for three days, traffic will be diverted to a detour on the I/16 road, in both directions. The reason is the supply of the section to the new expressway R2 Kriváň – Mýtna, which they plan to open on November 20.
They need the closure so that they can work on connecting the existing R2 route to the newly built expressway R2 Kriváň – Mýtna. “For safety reasons, it is not possible to do the work next to live traffic,” reminded NDS.
Section R2 Kriváň – Mýtna leads through the rugged terrain of the Krivánské potok valley. Work on the construction of the section began in 2021, the expressway was originally supposed to be completed in the spring of 2024. The price of the work, which was originally set in the contract at 232 million euros without value added tax, also increased. It is currently at the level of 270 million euros. “However, the detailed final price will be known only after construction is completed and all costs have been calculated,” she stated in September for TASR NDS.
