The French Ministry of Finance suspended this Friday the process of suspending Chinese online retailer Shein, which began two days earlier, after the company removed all illicit products from its platforms.
The French government initiated proceedings on Wednesday after finding child-like sex dolls and weapons for sale on its website, the same day the fashion retailer opened its first physical store in Paris.
The Ministry of Finance said it would suspend the entire Shein website in France, not just the marketplace, if banned products continued to be found for sale.

This Friday, the French consumer protection body noted that all illegal products, including medicines, were no longer available on Shein, the ministry said in a statement.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu asked for the situation to be re-evaluated next week, the note added. ‘Shein will remain under constant surveillance by state services.’
“Shein remains committed to dialogue with French authorities to address the concerns raised and present the measures we have implemented to continue to improve,” the company said in a statement.
Court proceedings seeking the platform’s suspension were not affected by Friday’s ruling, Lecornu said in a separate statement.
The Interior Ministry opened a case against Shein in a Paris court, while a prosecutor opened four investigations into the sale of the sex dolls, and customs will continue to control all seized products.
French authorities will also investigate other platforms where the sale of illegal products has been detected, the ministry said.
