O and Eace (private entity created to manage the mandatory investments of the 5G auction) will invest R$1.3 billion to provide internet to 16,300 public schools that are difficult to access in different regions of Brazil. The initiative intends to prioritize rural, indigenous, quilombola and peripheral communities. The notice was published on Thursday (6).
The teaching units will be connected by fiber optics and complementary technologies, such as satellite systems. The goal set by the government (PT) is to bring high-speed internet to 138,000 public schools by the end of 2026.
“Bringing the internet to schools is opening the doors of knowledge to millions of children and young people. This is a public policy that transforms lives and guarantees real opportunities, especially in places where access to technology is still a challenge”, says Frederico Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications.
