The president of the Chamber of Deputies said he had already read the report by Derrite (PL-SP), rapporteur of the anti-faction PL, and defended the sovereignty of the plenary, where ‘the debate will be broad, transparent and democratic’
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, stated this Saturday (8) that public security is a “non-partisan issue and a national urgency”. In a publication on X, formerly Twitter, the parliamentarian highlighted that he intends to lead discussions on the Legal Framework for Combating with “broadness, transparency and respect for the rules”, reinforcing the importance of a debate that unites government, Congress and society.
Motta said he had already read the deputy’s reportrapporteur of the proposal, and praised the text for “preserving advances in the Federal Government’s project and toughening penalties against crime”. According to him, the plenary of the Chamber will be sovereign in deliberating on the topic.
The president of the House defended that security must be above political divisions. “The country may differ on many things, but in the defense of life and security, Brazil needs to walk together. When the issue is security, there is no right or left, there is only the duty to protect”, he stated.
Motta also highlighted that the Legal Framework for Combating Organized Crime can represent a point of national convergence. “I believe that with the Legal Framework Brazil has found a point of unity. It’s time to put everyone at the same table — government, and society — and, with the maturity that the country demands, work together for a project that unites Brazil in what really matters: ensuring security for our society”, he concluded.
Public security is a non-partisan issue and a national urgency. I will work for the Chamber to deliver the Legal Framework for Combating Organized Crime to the country.
I read the deputy’s report, which preserves progress in the Federal Government’s project and toughens the penalties…
