Tornado hit part of the state on Friday (Nov 7); 5 deaths were in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu and one in Guarapuava
At least 6 people died and 437 were injured as a result of Paraná on Friday (7.Nov.2025). Among the injured, 9 are in serious condition, according to the State Civil Defense. Of the deaths, 5 were in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu and one in Guarapuava. One person is missing.
The governor of Paraná, (PSD), traveled to the region. He in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu after the tornado “reached 90% of the city’s homes and businesses”. Ratinho declared a state of calamity.
According to Reinaldo Kneib, meteorologist at the (Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System), vehicle overturns, entire trees and masonry houses fell.

According to the government of Paraná, within the Fujita scale, related to the intensity of the winds and the damage associated with the phenomenon, the tornado was classified with the F2 index – which is equivalent to winds of 180 km/h and 250 km/h.
However, there are “strong evidence” that the tornado may, in some parts of the city, have exceeded 250 km/h, which would change the classification to F3.
An intense low atmospheric pressure system formed between Paraguay and the south of the country drove the displacement of a cold front throughout the afternoon and evening of Friday (Nov 7), associated with the displacement of an extratropical cyclone from the continent to the ocean.
Because of this combination of systems, several severe storms were recorded over the west, southwest and central-south regions of the State.
