TJAC performs collective marriage and formalizes the union of 86 couples in the interior of Acre

On a morning marked by emotion and celebration, 86 couples formalized their civil union during the collective wedding promoted by the Acre Court of Justice (TJAC), through the Citizen Project. The social action, carried out free of charge, aimed to guarantee the right to marriage for people in socially vulnerable situations who do not have the resources to cover the costs of marriage.

Among the couples, stories of love and overcoming stood out. Navila Nascimento, 31 years old, and Jailson Oliveira, 35, met during her visit to the municipality. The feeling arose at first sight and, over time, the friendship turned into love. They had dreamed of making their relationship official for years, but lack of time and bureaucracy made it difficult. With the arrival of Projeto Cidadão in the city, they decided it was the ideal time to say the long-awaited “yes”.

Another example was that of Manoel Mendes, 23, and Gabrielle Souza, 22, who met during the covid-19 pandemic, in the rural area of Marechal Thaumaturgo. “Before, we didn’t attend any church. We’ve been in religion for a year, we thought together and decided to get married,” said the young man.

Pronouncements

During the ceremony, the president of the TJAC, judge Laudivon Nogueira, highlighted the importance of the family as the basis of society.

“Our Federal Constitution establishes the family as the basis of society, and it is. We cannot think of any country in which the family is weakened; it is the largest structure of the nation”, he stated.

The president also highlighted the social role of the Citizen Project, which has been bringing citizenship to thousands of people from Acre for three decades.

“Right now, we are bringing effective and active citizenship to all those who really need it. The Citizen Project has been fulfilling this task of bringing joy, identity, registration and marriage for 30 years. It brings and completes the meaning of being a citizen of Acre”, he reinforced.

The coordinator of the Citizen Project and dean of the Court of Justice, judge Samoel Evangelista, recalled the Judiciary’s commitment to reaching all regions of the state. He highlighted the work of the president of TJAC, who was one of those responsible for implementing the former Integrated Citizenship Center (CIC), now the Justice and Citizenship Center (Cejuc).

In a message to couples, the judge asked them to cultivate respect and equality in relationships.

“By choosing to unite your lives in marriage, you are sealing a pact of respect and companionship. Never domestic violence. Women were not made to serve men. Between you, love and friendship must prevail. Congratulations and may you be very happy”, he said.

The mayor of Marechal Thaumaturgo, Valdélio Nascimento, also participated in the event and reaffirmed the partnership between the municipal Executive and the Judiciary, highlighting the social benefits of the initiative for the population.

Ceremony

The celebration was led by Judge Erik Farhat, who highlighted the legal and emotional value of marriage.

“Marriage brings additional protection for each of you. This protection is exactly what each one came here to offer for the other”, stated the magistrate.

The judge symbolically united the youngest and the most experienced couple, and led the vows, when all the bride and groom responded in chorus: “Yes, I accept”. The traditional kiss and exchange of rings concluded the ceremony, which was marked by emotion and a feeling of citizenship.
