Rich in heritage and religious art, travel with us on a tour of the main churches of the Trás-os-Montes city.
There are 18 churches in the urban perimeter of Bragança. Santa Maria is the oldest: it was born with the city, started in the 12th century and is located in the old citadel.
The great landmark of Bragança is the Igreja da Sé. It is located in the square that inherited its name, a kind of drawing room for the city with the pillory in the center.
The clock tower stands out, which has since been electrified, but retains its primitive mechanism on display. The building was built to house a convent of Poor Clares, but, due to a lack of nuns, it was transformed into a Jesuit school.
