When? Right now. When the flower beds are probably empty, the greenhouse cleared and the compost, on the other hand, nicely trampled with matter that has matured in it lately. “This will save you the effort of changing the soil, for example, in the greenhouse,” advises Jana Bucharová in the podcast.

Of course you don’t have to do that. You can easily change the soil in the flower beds every few years, especially where it drains more easily. If you have enough strength and a large supply of good soil, there is definitely no one stopping you. But honestly – who would want to do that. At the same time, revitalizing the soil is not that difficult. Actually, just let her do what comes naturally to her.
Don’t waste nutrients
Start by not getting rid of the organic matter that is already there. This is especially important in a greenhouse, where leaves do not naturally fall or get anything other than what you plant in it.
“If there are dried peppers, tomatoes or cucumbers in it, don’t pull them out of the ground, but just work them into the soil,” advises Jana Bucharová, an expert from the magazine Receptář na horticultural topics. “The roots aerate the soil and the green part of the plant decomposes and fertilizes itself.” The same applies to the bed where you grew annual plants. This way you will get nutrients and save yourself the work of hauling to the compost.
Keep hydrated
Another thing that needs to be watched is in the greenhouse, because it will happen naturally in the flower bed when it rains or snows. The soil needs to be kept at least slightly moist even through the winter. “It should never dry out completely so that it is still alive and natural processes take place in it,” warns the expert.
Away with uninvited guests
Of course, the problem can arise when the plants have suffered from a large number of fungal diseases or pests. “This could really be an opportune moment to replace it,” says Jana Bucharová. But it is not always necessary.
There are preparations that can heal even such soil, but you will probably have to wait for two steps. “In the first phase, it is necessary to get rid of mold spores and other diseases,” explains the expert. “Some people use , which is a slightly more vigorous method. Then, in the second step, the soil needs to be nourished, for example with raw compost.” The second option is to use a product that is gentler on the soil balance, such as the Soil Cleaner. The latter has the advantage that it pumps the soil with organic fertilizer and it will not be so depleted in the spring.
