Tim Davie, head of the British BBC, resigns after criticism over editing of documentary about Trump
LONDON (Reuters) – Britain’s BBC director general Tim Davie and executive director of news Deborah Turness have resigned following criticism that a BBC documentary misled viewers by editing a speech by U.S. President Donald Trump.
“This decision is entirely mine, and I remain very grateful to the president and board for their unwavering and unanimous support throughout my tenure, including in recent days,” Davie said in a statement.
‘I have been reflecting on the very intense personal and professional demands of managing this role over many years in these feverish times, combined with the fact that I want to give a successor time to help shape the plans he will deliver.’
