The 2025 National High School Exam (Enem) began this Sunday (9) with the traditional writing test, which this year brought the theme “Perspectives on aging in Brazilian society”as announced by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, on social media.
The proposal invites participants to discuss the country’s aging population, a phenomenon that has gained prominence in recent decades with the increase in life expectancy and the reduction in birth rates. The topic requires candidates to critically analyze the social, economic and cultural implications of this process, as well as possible ways to guarantee quality of life and inclusion for elderly people.

Experts considered the subject relevant and current. The theme reflects Enem’s tendency to promote debates involving citizenship, empathy and public policies. It also reinforces the importance of understanding the role of aging as part of Brazil’s demographic transformations.
On this first day, candidates also responded to the Languages, Codes and Human Sciences tests, in addition to Foreign Languages (English or Spanish).
The second day of the exam, scheduled for next Sunday (16), will have questions on Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
